How To Take Care Of Post-Partum Skin Problems

In the process of bringing a new life into the world, a women goes through a lot of changes in her body. skin and hair will go back to their pre-pregnancy phase after giving birth. Your skin, particularly, goes through a lot of changes after giving birth. You will notice stretch marks, dark patches of skin, dark circles and so much more. But don’t worry as we have a solution for you. Follow these tips and regain your glowing skin after pregnancy.

Stretch marks: Due to the sudden weight gain during pregnancy, your skin tends to stretch a lot. Once you have given birth, the skin will retract to its normal size, leaving behind stretch marks. These stretch marks won’t go away completely but will leave behind lighter marks in shades of pink, purple or brown.
How to treat stretch marks: Start using oils rich in Vitamin E or anti-stretch mark creams in the stretch marks prone areas. Use it regularly during and post pregnancy to keep the skin around the belly and breast free of stretch marks. A healthy diet and exercising is the key to reduce the visibility of the stretch marks.

Dark spots or pigmentation: Pregnancy will lead to a faster production of pigments in your body, leading to dark spots. They decrease after giving birth or might become lighter in appearance.
How to treat dark spots: Use sunscreen on a regular basis, irrespective of the weather. Avoid direct exposure in the sun. Wear a hat when you step out. Stay indoors unless necessary. But avoid stepping out during the peak hours such as between 10am-4pm. Carry an umbrella to seek shade.

Dark circles: Dark circles and puffy eyes are a result of hormonal changes and lack of sleep. Constantly waking up to a crying baby will result in puffy eyes.
How to treat dark circles: All you need to do is get some help with your child so you can have a peaceful sleep. You can freeze some cucumber slices and apply them on your eyes for a few minutes. You can apply fresh aloe vera gel under your eyes to treat the puffiness and dark circles. More importantly, stack up a healthy diet.

Acne: If you have had clear skin throughout the pregnancy, then this may come as a surprise to you. High progesterone levels post-pregnancy can cause pimples to break out.
How to treat acne: You need to use a suitable face wash. Opt for a Cetaphil face cleanser which you can use twice a day. Apply sunscreen or a body lotion after bathing. Do not use a towel on your face, or just pat dry your skin. Do not pick on the pimples. Scrub your face twice a week. Change your pillow covers often. Drink lots of water to stay hydrated, which will reduce in the pimples vanishing quickly.

Apart from taking good care of your skin with different products, you need to wear lesser makeup. Remain hydrated all the times. Start your day with exercises and yoga. Even meditation will help you bring a balance to your mind and body, leading to a healthy, glowing skin. Eat protein and iron rich foods. Eat more of fresh, seasonal fruits rather than drinking fruit juices with high sugar content in them.
