My Little Quarantine Diary, talks about how amidst the #Covid19 Outbreak; i got an opportunity to spend quality time with my toddler daughter.
Ever since the coronavirus has doomed upon us, we all have learnt a new word, ‘Quarantine’. A word, which was earlier novice to us has now become a part of our daily lives. More so, it has become a new normal that we are, slowly but getting acquitted to.
With quarantine becoming a new way of life for us, we have learnt many more things such as spending time with our families, dividing the household chores as well as revival of the old board games. But for me, as a mother to a toddler, quarantine has brought a truly wonderful gift- spending quality time with my little one. Ever since my daughter grew up, I barely had time with her. Since most of her life revolved around school and other activities while mine around household chores and other social events, we missed a lot of mother-daughter time.
From the 1st day of lockdown till today, I and my daughter enjoy the most of our time. With the current times giving more of unfortunate news to deal with everyday, I have been taking the lockdown in a positive way. Since my daughter is a toddler, in her growing years, I have been focusing on her overall development.
So here is my Quarantine Diary notes for you which has a list of things that i have been doing with Alizha ( my daughter ) and how it has helped me strengthen my bonding with her.
Whenever I am in the kitchen, cooking, I make it a point to involve my daughter in simple activities like peeling boiled potato skin after it cools down, peeling sweet peas from the pods and much more. I also invite my husband to give me a helping hand in the kitchen activities in order to gender neutralize the concept of cooking. This way, my daughter learns from an early age that cooking is not just meant for women.
She loves giving me a helping hand when I’m busy in the kitchen. Not just cooking, she helps me doing the laundry too. She helps me sort out the clothes and puts them in the washing machine one by one. After they are dried, she carefully folds them neatly with her little hands. How I love watching her keep busy at work! She has also learnt to wipe the utensils after meals and keep them in their respective places.
But work is not all that we do. Since my daughter can’t go down to the playground, I have invented many indoor games, which are not only fun but aid in her overall development. There’s the obstacle game that I have developed using the different things in home such as chairs, tables, pillows and much more. This makes her happy as well as active. I also make it a
point to involve her in my daily exercise regime. We workout together and enjoy it as much as possible.
The best thing about the lockdown is that my daughter has started eating healthy. Whatever I prepare, she happily gulps down her throat, which in turn makes me happy. With the lockdown being extended, my lockdown quarantine diary has seen more of the positives. All I do is try a little hard everyday to make each lockdown day as happy and memorable as possible.
As a mother I too urge you to write a lockdown quarantine diary of yours and share your experiences with me!
