Feminine care brand, Whisper has released a new campaign “#KeepGirlsInSchool” to prevent them from dropping out when they get their periods.
As part of this campaign, Whisper launched its new film that aims to create awareness on how even today, girls across India drop out of school on hitting puberty.
Survey by Whisper
According to Whisper, 1 in 5 girls drop out of school the moment they reach puberty. This is a huge gap, which mostly goes unnoticed, especially in the urban areas where proper sanitation facilities are available.
This alarming number of school drop outs among young girls has been only increasing in the rural areas where there is lack of sanitation facilities and products available. To bridge this gap, Whisper reinforces its pledge to double the impact of their existing menstrual hygiene education program by reaching 5 crore girls by 2022.
As a mother to a daughter and an influencer, I strongly support the Whisper #KeepGirlsInSchool campaign.
Getting a girl child educated is really crucial in today’s era of advancement. Getting periods must not be looked down upon but must be a reason to celebrate another milestone in your daughter’s life.
This sign of fertility must have nothing to do with stopping a girl from seeking her education. Today, education is the right of every child in the world, so how can getting periods be a mere reason to halt her education?
Whisper, as a brand has grown by leaps and bounds in providing the best feminine hygiene products. Their sanitary pads are available very easily in all the chemists.
With an affordable price to pay, it is necessary to safeguard a girl’s future and her health. Empowering women with the right knowledge is critical for the growth of herself, her family and the country as a whole.
Whisper pioneers in breaking taboos by using their voice in advertising and media. It’s high time that we bid goodbye to those days when parents would make their girls sit at home, leaving school behind as they reach puberty. With Whisper actively seeking part in safeguarding every woman’s health, we must learn to trust them.
I have always laid my blind trust and faith in Whisper ever since I reached puberty. And I will continue doing so for my daughter as well. Skipping school upon hitting puberty not only tampers with the overall growth of the girl child but leaves her future insecure.
Whisper’s #KeepGirlsInSchool campaign has reached a high milestone where even Bhumi Pednekar has showcased her support towards this awareness drive.
Whisper’s initiative comes at a time when empowering the young women of India with the right knowledge and education is critical for our country’s growth. It is a rare opportunity where each of us can collectively make a difference in the lives of young girls.
